Research
The School of Nursing and Midwifery has established itself as the largest and the leading School in Ireland for national and international nursing, midwifery and healthcare research. The School has the highest proportion and number of P.h.D qualified staff amongst all Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Ireland. In addition, the School has obtained in the last five years over 5.4 million in competitive research funding from 23 national and international funding bodies. These achievements are the result of a College and School-wide commitment to excellence in research and to the enhancement of the learning experience of each of its students through research-led teaching and high quality research supervision.
Please take the time to review the depth and breadth of our research output from October 2006 to September 2009 and the expertise of our staff and P.h.D students. Staff members are happy for you to contact them if you would like any further information on any of our projects. If you have a research topic that you do not see included in our portfolio please contact us to discuss your ideas.
In the words of Dr Margaret Chan, Director of the World Health Organisation:
"In moving forward, it is important to learn from the past and, in looking back, it is clear that we can do better in the future, draw on the lessons of the past, consider the challenges that lie ahead, and identify major avenues for health systems to narrow the intolerable gaps between aspiration and implementation."
Prof Catherine Comiskey, Director of Research School of Nursing and Midwifery
